How to Get to Playa de Radhimë

Getting to Playa de Radhimë is a fundamental part of the adventure, and fortunately, there are several options to do so comfortably and efficiently. We always recommend planning ahead, especially if your visit coincides with the peak summer season. Its proximity to Vlora and the SH8 highway, which runs along much of the Albanian coast, greatly facilitates access.

By Plane

The nearest international airport is Mother Teresa International Airport (TIA) in Tirana, the capital of Albania. From Tirana, the journey to Vlora and then to Radhimë can take between 2.5 and 3 hours by car or bus. Another interesting option, especially if you are coming from Southern Europe, is to fly to Corfu Airport (CFU) in Greece and take a ferry to Sarandë, then continue by car or bus north, passing through the stunning Albanian Riviera until you reach Radhimë. This latter route, although longer, is incredibly scenic.

By Car

If you prefer the freedom to explore at your own pace, renting a car is the best alternative. From Vlora, the journey to Radhimë is approximately 10-15 kilometers to the south, following the coastal road. The signage is clear and the route is straightforward. Furthermore, having a vehicle allows us to easily discover the nearby Albania beaches and the charms of the interior. At Playa de Radhimë itself and its surroundings, you will find various parking options, many of them associated with restaurants or accommodations, or designated paid areas.

By Bus or Van (Furgon)

From the Vlora bus station, there are vans (local minibuses, known as 'furgon') that run the route south, passing through Radhimë and other coastal towns. They are an economical and authentic option for getting around, although schedules may be less rigid than those of conventional buses. Ask locals or at your accommodation for the most up-to-date pickup points and times.

The Sand and Water

When we talk about Playa de Radhimë, we cannot overlook the description of its main attraction: its sand and waters. This is, without a doubt, the heart of the experience and what makes us return again and again to this corner of the Vlora beaches.

A Floor of Sand and Pebbles

Playa de Radhimë is characterized by having a 'mixed' type of floor. This means you will not find fine, golden sand like on some Caribbean beaches, but a charming combination of light sand with small pebbles and stones polished by the sea. For us, this mix gives it a special character and a unique texture underfoot. Sometimes, the presence of pebbles can be a bit rough for more sensitive feet, so we recommend wearing water shoes, especially for children, which will allow them to move in total comfort both in and out of the water. The 'mixed sand' contributes to the clarity of the water, as it does not get stirred up as easily as finer sand.

Crystal Clear and Calm Waters

What really took our breath away at Playa de Radhimë were its waters. They are simply spectacular: an intense turquoise color that fades to a deep blue, and with a transparency that allows you to see the seabed even several meters deep. This clarity is a distinctive feature of the Albania beaches in this area. The waters are generally calm, protected by the orientation of the bay, making it an exceptionally safe place to swim, even for the youngest members of the family. The water temperature during the summer months is pleasantly warm, inviting long swims and enjoyment of the sea breeze. It is the perfect place to float without worries and let stress dissolve with each gentle wave that caresses us.

Playa de Radhimë has evolved in recent years to offer a range of services that, without saturating the atmosphere, significantly enhance the visitor's experience. We greatly appreciate this balance, as it allows us to enjoy the natural beauty without giving up certain essential comforts. It is one of the Vlora beaches that has managed to adapt to modern tourism while maintaining its charm.

Comfort at the Beach

• Sun Umbrellas and Sunbeds: Along much of the beach, you will find numerous points where you can rent sun umbrellas and sunbeds for a reasonable price. This is ideal for spending a full day in the sun without worrying about bringing your own equipment. The layout is usually spacious, allowing for a sense of privacy.
