Playa de Vespera, located in the charming town of Mali Lošinj, within the Primorje-Gorski Kotar region of Croatia, is undoubtedly one of those places. How to Get to Playa de Vespera

Getting to Playa de Vespera is part of the adventure and, fortunately, it is quite straightforward. The beach is located on the island of Lošinj, a well-connected destination within the Croatian archipelago. If we are coming from the mainland, the most common option is to take a ferry. Generally, ferries depart from Valbiska, on the island of Krk, bound for Merag, on the island of Cres. Once on Cres, a short drive will take us across a bridge connecting Cres with Lošinj, directly to Mali Lošinj.

Transportation Options

• By car: If we are traveling with our own vehicle or a rental one, the signage towards Mali Lošinj and Sunčana Uvala bay is clear. There are parking lots, some paid, available near the beach and the nearby hotels. It is advisable to arrive early in the high season to secure a good spot.
• By bus: There are bus lines connecting major Croatian cities with Mali Lošinj, although frequency may vary depending on the season. Once in Mali Lošinj, Playa de Vespera is a pleasant 20-30 minute walk from the center, or a short taxi or local bus ride away.
• By plane: The nearest airport is Lošinj Airport (LDLO), which operates charter and private flights, as well as some seasonal connections with Croatian cities. For international flights, the airports of Rijeka (on the island of Krk) or Pula are the most common options, from where you can continue the journey by ferry and car or bus.
• On foot or by bicycle: From the center of Mali Lošinj, the beach is accessible via a picturesque seaside promenade that runs along the coast. It is a fantastic option to enjoy the landscape, get some exercise, and arrive directly at the beach, especially if we are staying in the nearby hotels in Sunčana Uvala bay.

The Sand and Water

Playa de Vespera is a clear example of the natural beauty of the beaches of Primorje-Gorski Kotar, characterized by its pebble bed. Although we won't find the fine, golden sand typical of other regions, the pebbles here are smooth and polished by the sea, making them quite comfortable for walking and lying on, especially with the help of a towel or sunbed. We always recommend wearing water shoes for greater comfort when entering and exiting the water, although they are not strictly necessary.

What truly captivates about Playa de Vespera is the quality and clarity of its waters. The Adriatic Sea here is a dazzling greenish-blue color, with a transparency that allows you to see the seabed with astonishing ease. This characteristic, along with the gentle slope of the shore, makes bathing a safe and pleasant experience for all ages. The water temperature, especially in the summer months, is pleasantly warm, inviting long swims and enjoyment of the hours under the Croatian sun. The absence of strong currents and the protection of the bay contribute to the general calmness of the sea, making it an ideal place for swimming and relaxing without worries.

We were impressed by the variety of options available, which make the stay as comfortable as possible.

Among the most notable services, we find:

• Showers and Toilets/WC: Always clean and well-maintained, they are essential for freshening up and changing after a swim.
• Parking: There are nearby parking areas, some paid, which facilitate access for those arriving by car.
• Chiringuitos and Restaurants: Along the beach and in the adjacent hotels, there are several establishments where we can enjoy a refreshing drink, an ice cream, or a full meal, from light snacks to more elaborate dishes from local and international cuisine.
• Lifeguards: The presence of lifeguards during the high season is a big plus, providing peace of mind and safety, especially for families with children.
• Sun umbrellas and sunbeds: It is possible to rent sun umbrellas and comfortable sunbeds to secure our spot in the sun and enjoy a day of relaxation without worrying about bringing our own equipment.
• Equipment Rental: For water sports enthusiasts, there are rental points for kayaks, paddle boards, and other equipment.
