When we arrive at Playa de Aramar, we are immediately enveloped by a deep sense of peace. Its shell-like shape, protected by imposing cliffs, makes it a safe and welcoming place. How to Get to Playa de Aramar

Getting to Playa de Aramar is relatively straightforward, although we advise planning a bit in advance on busier days, especially in summer. We usually take the AS-238 from Avilés or the AS-328 from Gijón, heading towards Luanco. Once near the village, you need to follow the signs to Aramar, which are usually well-marked.

The main access to the beach is via a local road that leads directly to the parking area.

• By car: This is the most comfortable option. From Luanco, the journey is very short, just a few minutes. There is a parking lot, although its capacity is limited, so in high season it can be a challenge to find a spot if you don't arrive early.
• Public transport: During the summer months, there is usually a bus line connecting Luanco with nearby beaches, including Aramar. It's advisable to check the updated schedules at the Luanco tourist office.
• On foot or by bicycle: For the more adventurous or those staying in Luanco, it's possible to walk or cycle via trails and secondary roads, enjoying the picturesque coastal landscape. It's a pleasant route, although with some gentle slopes.

Once parked, access to the sand is direct and comfortable, via a small ramp or stairs, which makes it easy to arrive with umbrellas, coolers, and everything needed for a perfect beach day. The proximity of the parking lot to the sand is a plus that we always value positively.

The Sand and Water

Playa de Aramar wins us over with its characteristic fine, golden sand, a highly valued quality in Asturian beaches. It's a soft sand underfoot, perfect for walking barefoot, for children to build sandcastles, or simply for spreading out our towel and enjoying the sun. At the ends of the beach, the sand subtly mixes with small areas of rock and pebbles, creating a wilder landscape and offering interesting corners to explore marine life at low tide.

The waters of the Cantabrian Sea at Aramar are, in general, clear and clean, with that emerald tone we love so much about the Asturian coast. They are usually calm, especially on days with little wind, thanks to the natural protection provided by the surrounding cliffs. This makes it a very safe beach for swimming, even for the little ones. However, as with any Cantabrian beach, it's important to be aware of currents and sea conditions, which can change quickly. It's not a beach with massive tourist infrastructure, which helps preserve its charm, but it does have the basics to enjoy a worry-free day.

The services we usually find at Aramar, especially during the summer season, include:

• Lifeguards: During the summer months, the beach has a lifeguard service, which gives us great peace of mind, especially if we're with children. We always recommend following their instructions and signage.
• Showers: It has showers to rinse off the salt and sand before heading home. A practical and much-appreciated service.
• Parking: As mentioned before, there is a parking area relatively close to the beach. It's free, but in high season it fills up easily, so arriving early is key.
• Chiringuito: During the summer, a chiringuito or small bar-terrace is usually set up where we can have a cool drink, a coffee, or even a light snack. It's perfect for recharging without straying too far from the sand.
• Trash bins: To keep the beach clean and the natural environment preserved, there are bins and containers. We always emphasize the importance of caring for the environment and not leaving waste.

What you won't find here are services like umbrella and sunbed rentals, which reinforces its more natural and less commercial character. It also doesn't have wooden walkways to facilitate access to the shoreline for people with reduced mobility, nor permanent public toilets, although the chiringuito usually has them for its customers.
