Welcome, sun and sea lovers! Today we're exploring one of the most recent gems of Barcelona's coastline: Playa de Llevant. Located in the Sant Martí district, this beach is relatively new, having opened in 2006, which gives it a modern and well-planned feel. It's a space that offers a different beach experience from the city's more crowded and traditional ones, a true oasis for those seeking a more relaxed atmosphere and, above all, for those traveling with their furry companions.

Playa de Llevant has earned a special place in the hearts of locals and visitors for its combination of tranquility, quality services, and, as we've already mentioned, for being one of the few beaches in Barcelona with a specially designated and equipped area where our dog friends can enjoy the sea and sand. We consider it a fantastic option to escape the hustle and bustle and enjoy a full day at the beach, with all the comforts at hand and a very pleasant atmosphere.

How to Get to Playa de Llevant

Getting to Playa de Llevant is quite straightforward, as Barcelona has an excellent public transport network. For us, it's essential to be able to access the beach without complications, and this location allows just that.

By Metro

The metro Line 4 (yellow) is our best ally. The closest stations are:

• Selva de Mar: From here, it's a pleasant 10-15 minute walk, crossing part of the modern Diagonal Mar neighborhood.
• El Maresme | Fòrum: A bit further away, but also accessible on foot, especially if we want to take the opportunity to see the Parc del Fòrum area. It's an option we often choose if we want a longer walk and to enjoy the surroundings.

By Tram

The tram, line T4, also leaves us very close, with stops like:

• Selva de Mar: Just like the metro, it leaves us at a comfortable walking distance.
• Fòrum: Another stop that brings us close to the beach and the Parc del Fòrum.

By Bus

Several Barcelona city bus lines allow us to get directly to the vicinity of the beach. Lines H16, V27, V29, 7, 136, among others, have stops on Diagonal or on the streets adjacent to the beach. We always recommend checking the Barcelona public transport app to find the most direct route from your starting point.

By Car and Parking

If you prefer to come by car, you'll find several parking options in the surrounding area. There are underground parking lots at the Diagonal Mar shopping center and near Parc del Fòrum. Although there is no parking directly on the sand, these paid parking lots are a good solution for leaving your vehicle safely. We usually opt for public transport to avoid the stress of finding parking, especially during high season.

The Sand and Water

The experience at Playa de Llevant begins with its sand. We find fine, golden sand, very pleasant to the touch, perfect for walking barefoot, building sandcastles with the little ones, or simply spreading out our towel and relaxing in the sun. It's clean, well-maintained sand, which we greatly value in an urban beach.

As for the water, the waters of Playa de Llevant are usually calm and shallow near the shore, making it a safe and suitable place for the whole family to swim, including children. The water quality is good, and like other Barcelona beaches, it undergoes regular checks. Although we can't expect the crystal-clear transparency of coves further from the city, the clarity is more than acceptable for a refreshing swim and enjoying the Mediterranean. It's the ideal place for a quick dip or for spending hours floating in the sea without worries.

Services and Facilities

One of the strong points of Playa de Llevant is the large quantity and quality of its services and facilities, designed to make our visit as comfortable and pleasant as possible. We always look for beaches that offer a complete experience, and this beach more than delivers.

• Showers and Foot Washers: Essential for washing off sand and salt after a swim. They are distributed along the beach and are free to use.
• Restrooms/WCs: We have public restroom modules, clean and well-maintained, which is fundamental for spending a whole day at the beach without worries.
• Lifeguards and Assistance Points: Safety is paramount. During the bathing season, the beach has watchtowers and a team of professional lifeguards who look after the safety of all swimmers. Furthermore, there are medical assistance points for any emergency or minor incident.
• Full Accessibility: Playa de Llevant is an example of accessibility. It has wooden walkways that go right to the water's edge, adapted showers and restrooms, and, during high season, a bathing assistance service for people with reduced mobility. This allows all of us to enjoy the beach without barriers.
• Chiringuitos (Beach Bars): What would a beach be without its chiringuitos? Here we find several options where we can enjoy a refreshing drink, an ice cream, or even a light meal by the sea. The atmosphere is usually lively but not excessively noisy.
