How to Get to Playa de Meloneras

Getting to Playa de Meloneras is relatively easy, given its excellent connections in southern Gran Canaria. We always recommend planning your journey to make the most of your day:

• By car: This is the most comfortable option if you're coming from the airport or other parts of the island. From the capital, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, take the GC-1 heading south. The exit to Meloneras is very well signposted. Once there, you'll find paid parking near the promenade and hotels. We advise arriving early, especially in high season, to secure a good spot.

• By public transport: The Global bus network in Gran Canaria is very efficient. Several lines connect Meloneras with key points like the airport, Las Palmas, and other southern tourist towns (Maspalomas, Playa del Inglés, Puerto Rico). Lines 30, 70, and 90 are some that usually pass through the area. It's an economical and sustainable option that lets you forget about parking.

• By taxi: From any point in the south of the island, a taxi will drop you off right at the entrance to the Meloneras promenade, a quick and comfortable option, though more expensive. Many hotels in the area also offer transfer services.

The Sand and Water

Playa de Meloneras offers us a unique sensory experience, starting with its sand and waters. Unlike the golden dunes of Maspalomas, here the sand is a darker shade, a mix of fine volcanic sand and sea-polished pebbles, giving it a distinctive and elegant character. The waters are, without a doubt, one of Meloneras' greatest attractions. We have almost always found them calm and crystal clear, ideal for a relaxing swim. The absence of strong currents and the shallow depth at the shore make it perfectly safe for children, making it a fantastic choice for families. The water temperature, mild year-round, invites you to immerse yourself and enjoy without rush. Furthermore, the water's clarity allows you to see the sandy bottom and, sometimes, small fish, delighting those who enjoy light snorkeling.

Best Time to Visit
