How to get to Playa de los Cancajos

Getting to Playa de los Cancajos is extremely easy, given its excellent location and the good connections on the island of La Palma. We are located in the municipality of Breña Baja, just a few kilometers from the capital, Santa Cruz de La Palma, and the airport. This makes it a very accessible destination for any traveler.

From La Palma Airport (SPC)

If we arrive by plane, the beach is just a 5-10 minute drive from La Palma Airport. We can choose:

• Taxi: It's the fastest and most comfortable option. There's a taxi rank right outside the terminal.
• Rental car: It's our recommendation if we want to explore the island freely. The main car rental companies operate at the airport and the road to Los Cancajos is direct and in perfect condition.
• Bus: Bus line 20 connects the airport with Los Cancajos and Santa Cruz de La Palma. It's an economical and efficient option.

From Santa Cruz de La Palma

From the capital, Santa Cruz de La Palma, the journey is equally short, about 10-15 minutes by car. We can get there in several ways:

• Car: Taking the LP-2 road that runs along the coast. The signage is clear.
• Bus: Lines 20 and 21 connect Santa Cruz de La Palma with Los Cancajos regularly.
• Walking: For the more adventurous, there's a promenade that connects Santa Cruz with Los Cancajos, offering spectacular views of the coastline, although it's a long walk.

Parking

One of the advantages of Playa de los Cancajos is that it has several free parking areas nearby, which greatly facilitates access by car. We will always find a place to leave our vehicle, even in high season, although sometimes we may have to walk a few meters.

When we talk about Playa de los Cancajos, the sand and water are undoubtedly two of its main protagonists, and for good reason. We are faced with a coastal landscape that stands out from the typical golden beaches, offering a unique visual and tactile experience.

Volcanic sand, a dark treasure

This type of sand has the particularity of heating up more quickly under the sun, so it's advisable to wear footwear for walks at midday, although the sea breeze usually mitigates this sensation.

What really distinguishes the waters of Playa de los Cancajos is their exceptional calmness and clarity. Thanks to the natural and artificial breakwaters that protect the coves, the waves are minimal, almost non-existent, creating a kind of giant natural swimming pool. This is a blessing for:

• Showers and Toilets/WC: We have showers to wash off the salt and sand after swimming, as well as clean and well-maintained public toilets, a detail we always appreciate.
• Lifeguards: Safety is paramount, and therefore, the beach has a lifeguard service during l
