How to Get to Playa de la Cocina

Getting to Playa de la Cocina is, in itself, part of the adventure and charm of this destination. First, we must head to Órzola, in the north of Lanzarote, from where we'll take a ferry to Caleta de Sebo, the only urban center on La Graciosa. The ferry ride is short, just 25-30 minutes, and offers spectacular views of the Famara cliffs and the archipelago itself.

Once in Caleta de Sebo, the magic of La Graciosa envelops us. There are no paved roads here, only sandy streets and a relaxed pace of life. To get to Playa de la Cocina, we have several options, all respectful of the island's natural environment:

• On foot: This is the most rewarding option for hiking enthusiasts. From Caleta de Sebo, the path is approximately 5 kilometers south, following the coastline. It's a walk of about an hour and a half, depending on your pace. The trail is dirt and sand, relatively flat, and offers panoramic views of the Graciosa coast. It's essential to bring water, sun protection, and comfortable shoes.
• By bicycle: Renting a bicycle is one of the most popular ways to get around La Graciosa. In Caleta de Sebo, you'll find several rental shops. The bike ride to the beach takes about 20-30 minutes, along the same trail as on foot. It's a wonderful experience that allows you to explore the island at your own pace, feeling the sea breeze and the sun on your skin.
• By 4x4 taxi: For those who prefer a more comfortable option or are traveling with young children, there are authorized 4x4 taxis that can take you to the vicinity of the beach. They cannot access the sand directly to preserve the environment, but they will drop you off as close as possible, significantly reducing the walk.

The Sand and Water

When you set foot on Playa de la Cocina, the first thing that captivates you is the quality of its sand. It's a fine, golden sand, incredibly soft to the touch, which contrasts wonderfully with the deep blue of the ocean. Services and Facilities

One of the aspects that defines the essence of Playa de la Cocina is its wild and virgin character. And this translates into an almost total absence of services and facilities. It's essential to understand this before your visit to come well-prepared. Unlike urbanized beaches, here you will not find:

• Chiringuitos or restaurants: There are no establishments to buy food or drinks. You must bring everything you need from Caleta de Sebo.
• Showers or toilets: The beach lacks any type of sanitary infrastructure. It's a 100% natural beach.
• Lifeguards: Being an isolated beach, it has no surveillance service. You must be cautious when swimming.
• Umbrella or sunbed rentals: There are no options to rent beach equipment. It's advisable to bring your own umbrella if you seek shade.
• Parking: As mentioned, there are no private vehicles on La Graciosa, so there is no parking.
