How to Get to Playa de la Carihuela

Getting to Playa de la Carihuela is relatively easy, given its privileged location in Torremolinos and the excellent communication infrastructure of the Costa del Sol. We always recommend considering the different options so each traveler can choose the one that best suits their needs and preferences.

By Car

If you choose to drive, the A-7 highway (Autovía del Mediterráneo) is the main access route. You should take the exit towards Torremolinos and follow the signs to La Carihuela. Once in the area, finding parking can be a challenge, especially during high season. There are paid underground parking lots nearby, as well as regulated parking zones (blue or green zones) on the surrounding streets. Our recommendation is to arrive early if you visit in summer to secure a good spot, or opt for a hotel with its own parking.

By Public Transport

Public transport is an excellent, comfortable, and sustainable alternative. Torremolinos has a Cercanías train station (Line C-1 Malaga-Fuengirola) that will drop you in the center of the municipality. From Torremolinos station, the beach is about a 15-20 minute walk, or you can take a local bus that gets you even closer. The bus stops closest to La Carihuela are usually on the Paseo Marítimo or on the main streets leading down to the beach.

In addition to the train, there are several intercity bus lines connecting Torremolinos with Malaga city and other nearby municipalities. Once in Torremolinos, the urban bus lines will facilitate your trip to the beach. For example, from the Torremolinos bus station, you can take a local bus that drops you right in the heart of La Carihuela. It's a very practical option if you don't want to worry about parking.

On Foot or by Bicycle

If you are already staying in Torremolinos, especially in the center or El Bajondillo area, Playa de la Carihuela is perfectly accessible on foot via the beautiful Paseo Marítimo. It's a pleasant, flat walk with excellent views, ideal for enjoying the coastal atmosphere. For cycling enthusiasts, the promenade is also suitable and will allow you to arrive quickly while enjoying the sea breeze. We often choose this option to soak up the local atmosphere before reaching the sand.
