How to Get to Playa de Las Gaviotas

Getting to Playa de Las Gaviotas is surprisingly simple, making it an accessible destination for everyone. We always recommend planning the trip a little, although Fuengirola's good connection with the rest of the Costa del Sol makes things much easier.

By Car

If we come by car, the Mediterranean Highway (A-7 or AP-7) is our best ally. Fuengirola is very well signposted, and once in the municipality, following the signs to the beach is easy. Playa de Las Gaviotas is located in the eastern area of the promenade, near the Castillo de Sohail. Finding parking can be a challenge during high season, but there are options. We can look for paid underground parking or, with luck, a spot on the streets near the promenade. We usually arrive early to secure a good spot.

By Public Transport

• Commuter Train (C-1): This is one of our favorite options. The C-1 commuter line connects Malaga city (María Zambrano Station and Airport) with Fuengirola. Fuengirola station is right in the center, and from there, a pleasant 15-20 minute walk along the promenade will take us directly to Playa de Las Gaviotas. It's a comfortable and eco-friendly way to avoid traffic and parking.
• Bus: Fuengirola has a good network of urban buses connecting different points of the municipality with the promenade. If we're coming from other nearby towns, there are also intercity lines that arrive at the Fuengirola bus station, and from there, we can connect with urban lines or take a walk. We always check the schedules in advance, especially on weekends.

When we talk about Playa de Las Gaviotas, it's impossible not to start with its fine, golden sand. It's the kind of sand that invites you to walk barefoot, lie down without worries, and build dream castles with the little ones. At Playa de Las Gaviotas we will find a great variety, from the most traditional ones with their irresistible sardine skewers to more modern options. They are perfect for a light lunch, a mid-afternoon refreshment, or a dinner with sea views. The restaurants along the promenade also offer varied cuisine for all tastes.
