How to Get to Playa de Mylopotas

Getting to Playa de Mylopotas is extremely easy, especially if we are staying in Chora, the capital of Ios. The most popular and comfortable way is to take the local bus. Buses depart very frequently from Chora and the port, with direct stops at Mylopotas. The journey is short, picturesque, and very economical, making it the preferred option for most visitors.

If we prefer more independence, we can rent a scooter, a quad bike, or a car in Chora. The road is well signposted and the journey takes just a few minutes. It is also possible to walk from Chora, although the descent is considerable and the uphill return can be a bit demanding under the summer sun. For us, the experience of taking the bus and mingling with locals and tourists is part of the Ios beach adventure.

High Season (July and August)

If we are looking for the hustle and bustle, the party, and the most vibrant atmosphere, then July and August are our months. The island is at its peak, full of young people from all over the world, the beach bars are in full swing with music and DJs, and the nightlife is unmatched. However, it is also the busiest time and prices tend to be higher. If we don't mind sharing the beach with crowds and love the energy, this is our time.

Mid-Season (May, June, September, October)

• May and June: The water is already warm enough for swimming, the days are long and sunny, and the island is starting to wake up, but without the frenzy of July and August. It's perfect for relaxing and enjoying the beach more peacefully.
• September and October: The sea is still very pleasant for swimming, temperatures are mild, and the island regains a charming calm. The sunsets are spectacular and the atmosphere is more relaxed, ideal for couples or those seeking a quiet retreat after the summer.
