How to Get to Playa de Linaria

Getting to Playa de Linaria is relatively straightforward, which adds an extra point to its appeal. Located on the western part of the island of Kalymnos, near the popular villages of Myrties and Massouri, it is easily accessible from the capital, Pothia.

From Pothia, the capital of Kalymnos

• By car or scooter: This is the most comfortable and flexible option. From Pothia, the journey takes approximately 15-20 minutes, following the main road west. The route is well signposted and offers panoramic views of the Aegean Sea. We always recommend renting a scooter or a car to explore the island at your own pace. There are several rental agencies in Pothia and at the port.
• By local bus: There is a public bus service connecting Pothia with the main coastal villages, including Myrties and Massouri, which are very close to Linaria. Ask the driver or locals for the stop closest to the beach. The frequency of buses is good during the high season, although it may be less regular outside of it.
• By taxi: A faster and worry-free option, ideal if you don't want to drive. Taxis are easy to find in Pothia and the journey is not excessively expensive, especially if you are traveling in a group.

From Kalymnos Airport

Kalymnos Airport (KGS) is a short distance from Pothia. From there, you can take a taxi or a bus to Pothia and then follow the directions above to reach Linaria. The airport receives domestic flights, mainly from Athens. If you arrive in Kos, the neighboring island, you will need to take a ferry or a speedboat to Kalymnos, which will drop you off in Pothia.

Once near the beach, you will find a designated Parking area, which facilitates access, even during the busiest months. The walk from the parking lot to the sand is very short and comfortable, suitable for everyone.

This characteristic makes it exceptionally safe for young children, who can splash and play at the shore without worries, and for less experienced swimmers. The entrance to the sea is gentle and gradual, without sudden drops, which adds an extra layer of safety and comfort. It is the perfect place for a relaxing swim, to float and let yourself be carried away by the serenity of the Aegean.
