How to Get to Playa de Elia

Getting to Playa de Elia is relatively straightforward, although as with many beaches in Mykonos, it's good to know the options to plan our visit. We are located about 11 kilometers southeast of Mykonos Town (Chora), making it accessible but sufficiently removed from the bustle of the center.

By Public Bus

One of the most economical and popular ways to get there is by using the island's efficient bus service. We need to head to the Fabrika bus station in Mykonos Town. From there, there are regular services that will take us directly to Elia. The journey is picturesque and allows us to enjoy the Mykonian landscape. It's an option we recommend, especially if we don't want to worry about parking.

By Rental Car or Scooter

If we prefer more freedom and flexibility with our schedule, renting a car or scooter is an excellent alternative. Mykonos has numerous rental agencies. The route to Elia is easy to follow with signs or GPS. The beach has ample parking, although in high season it can fill up quickly, so it's advisable to arrive early. Driving around Mykonos is an experience in itself, with its winding roads and spectacular views.

By Taxi or Private Transport

For a more comfortable and direct option, we can take a taxi from Mykonos Town or any other point on the island. There are also private transport services that we can book in advance. This is a good alternative if we are traveling in a group or with a lot of luggage.

By Water Taxi

A very fun and scenic way to reach Elia is by water taxi from other popular beaches like Platys Gialos or Ornos. These boats sail along the coast, offering us spectacular views of the shoreline. It's an experience that will undoubtedly add a special touch to our beach day and allow us to discover other coves along the way.

Playa de Elia is, in our humble opinion, a jewel of the Aegean, and much of its charm lies in the quality of its sand and the purity of its waters. When we step onto the beach, we immediately notice the fine, soft sand, of a pale golden hue that shines under the sun. It's the kind of sand that slips between your toes, inviting you to walk barefoot along the shore. It's perfect for laying out a towel and enjoying a day of relaxation, or for children to play and build their sandcastles without difficulty. There are no annoying rocks on the shore, which makes access to the sea and the play experience easier.

But if the sand is a delight, the water is simply sublime. The waters of Elia are famous for their crystal-clear clarity and vibrant turquoise color. They are the kind of waters that allow us to see the seabed with total clarity, even several meters deep. Their temperature, especially in the summer months, is pleasantly warm and refreshing, ideal for a prolonged swim. Furthermore, the entry into the sea is gradual and shallow for a good distance, making it a very safe place for families with young children and for those who don't feel very comfortable swimming in deep waters. Most of the time, the waters of Elia are calm and tranquil, protected from stronger winds, which contributes to that feeling of serenity and peace we seek on vacation. It's a true pleasure to immerse yourself in them and be carried by the gentle sea.

Here, comfort and enjoyment are guaranteed for all visitors. It is, without a doubt, one of the most organized beaches on the island, and that is noticeable from the moment we arrive.

Comfort and Rest

One of the most requested services are the umbrellas and sunbeds for rent. Along the beach, we find several sections with comfortable sunbeds, some of them luxurious, perfect for relaxing in the shade and enjoying the views. Prices vary depending on location and type of sunbed, but the investment is worth it for a day of total relaxation. Furthermore, the beach has showers to wash off the sand and salt after a refreshing swim, and clean, well-maintained bathrooms/WCs.
