The contrast between the turquoise blue of the sea, the dazzling white of the sand, and the lush green of the surrounding vegetation is simply spectacular. It's one of those beaches that stays etched in memory, a destination that promises not only rest but also unforgettable moments of connection with nature and with our loved ones. How to Get to Playa Blanca
Getting to Playa Blanca is part of the adventure and, fortunately, it's quite accessible. The main gateway to Holguín province is Frank País International Airport (HOG), which receives flights from various international and domestic cities. Once we land, we have several options to head to the Guardalavaca area, where this beautiful beach is located.
From Frank País Airport in Holguín
- Taxi: This is the most comfortable and fastest option. Taxis are available outside the airport, and the journey to Guardalavaca, the tourist area closest to Playa Blanca, takes about an hour. Prices are usually negotiable, so we recommend agreeing on the fare before starting the trip.
- Bus or Viazul: If we're looking for a more economical option, we can take a Viazul bus from the terminal in Holguín city. However, Viazul doesn't have a direct route to Guardalavaca, so we would need to take a taxi or local transport from the Holguín bus station to the beach. This option is longer and requires more transfers.
- Car Rental: For those who prefer the freedom to explore at their own pace, renting a car at the airport is an excellent alternative. The roads in the area are in good condition, and having a vehicle allows us not only to reach Playa Blanca but also to discover the charms of the Holguín surroundings.
The Sand and Water
The experience of the sand and water at Playa Blanca is undoubtedly one of its greatest attractions and what makes it such a coveted destination. It's the heart of its charm and what invites us to return again and again.
Dreamlike Sand
The sand at Playa Blanca is, as its name suggests, immaculately white and extremely fine. Walking barefoot, we feel it gently slip between our toes, offering a sensation of purity and lightness. It's sand that doesn't get excessively hot under the tropical sun, allowing us to stroll comfortably at any time of day. Its composition, rich in fragments of coral and ancient seashells, gives it that characteristic pearly tone and an almost powdery texture. It's ideal for building sandcastles, relaxing in the sun, or simply enjoying a pleasant walk along the shore, leaving our footprints on this natural canvas.
Crystal-Clear and Calm Waters
The waters of Playa Blanca are a visual spectacle in themselves. Their transparency is astonishing, allowing us to see the seabed with exceptional clarity, even at several meters deep. The color ranges from a soft turquoise near the shore to a deep blue beyond the coral reef. These waters are mostly calm and warm, protected by reefs that act as natural barriers against strong currents. This makes it an exceptionally safe place for swimming, even for the youngest in the family or for those who don't feel very comfortable in the open sea.
The constant water temperature, which rarely drops below 26°C, makes swimming always a pleasant and refreshing experience. It allows us to spend hours immersed in its embrace, floating without worries or exploring the marine life hidden beneath the surface. The combination of fine sand and serene waters makes Playa Blanca the perfect setting for an idyllic beach day, where nature gifts us a spectacle of colors and sensations that are hard to find elsewhere.
Services and Facilities
Although Playa Blanca is characterized by its natural beauty, its proximity to the Guardalavaca tourist area means we have an excellent variety of services and facilities that make our stay even more comfortable and pleasant. Most of these services are integrated or conveniently located near the large resorts that line the coast, although some are accessible to all visitors.
