How to Get to Playa de Ponzos

Getting to Playa de Ponzos is relatively straightforward, although it will require a short car journey to access this natural paradise. From the center of Ferrol, the route is clear and well-signposted, making it easy to reach even for first-time visitors. We will head north, following signs towards the coast, and in about fifteen or twenty minutes we will already be catching the first glimpses of this spectacular sandy beach.

The most comfortable and practical way to reach the Ferrol beach of Ponzos is by car. From Ferrol, we will take the AC-116 road towards San Jorge and then follow the specific signs for Ponzos. The journey is pleasant, winding through rural and coastal landscapes that prepare us for the beauty that awaits. Upon arrival, we will find a spacious and generally free Parking area, especially outside the high season, providing convenience when parking our vehicle without major concerns. During the summer months, the parking lot can fill up, so we recommend arriving early to secure a good spot.

Public Transport

While the car option is the most recommended for the flexibility it offers, there are some public transport alternatives, albeit with less frequency. During the summer season, some urban bus lines from Ferrol may extend their routes to the vicinity of the most popular beaches of A Coruña, including Ponzos. However, it is essential to check updated schedules and frequencies in advance, as these services are usually limited and may not drop us right at the beach, requiring a short additional walk. For greater comfort and autonomy, we insist, the car is the best choice.
