How to Get to Cala Baladrar

Getting to Cala Baladrar is relatively straightforward, although, as a proper cove, it requires a small detour from the main routes. We always recommend the car as the most comfortable option for exploring the Benissa coast.

By Car

From Benissa town, we will head towards the coast via the CV-745 road. The cove is well signposted along the Benissa coast. Once we get close, we will find clear signs that will guide us directly to the parking area.

Parking at Cala Baladrar is limited, especially during the summer months. There is a small designated area near the cove, but it fills up quickly. Our suggestion is to arrive early to secure a spot. If we don't find parking right next to it, there are always options on adjacent streets, although we may have to walk a few minutes. It is important to respect the signs and not park in prohibited areas to avoid fines.

Public Transport

Although less frequent, there are some bus lines connecting Benissa town with its coast, especially during the high season. However, they usually don't stop right at the cove, so we would probably need to walk a bit from the nearest stop. It is always advisable to check the updated schedules and routes of local companies before planning the visit.

The 'Sand' and the Water

One of the most distinctive features of Cala Baladrar is its composition. Here we will not find the typical fine, golden sand we sometimes expect on beaches. Instead, we are greeted by a surface of pebbles and small stones, which gives it a more natural and wild character. This, far from being an inconvenience, is one of its greatest advantages.

The Pebbles and Their Charm

The pebbles, polished by the constant ebb and flow of the waves, are comfortable to walk on once we get used to them. Furthermore, they have the particularity of not sticking to the body or clothes like sand, which makes cleaning up at the end of the day much easier. However, for the more sensitive or for small children, we advise bringing water shoes or aqua socks. They will allow us to move more comfortably both on the shore and when entering the sea.

This establishment, perfectly integrated into the landscape, becomes the social heart of the cove. Here we can enjoy a refreshing drink, a coffee, or even a delicious meal with unbeatable sea views. Its atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, ideal for taking a break, sheltering from the sun, or simply watching the comings and goings of people. We loved its offering of simple but tasty dishes, perfect for a beach day.

Lifeguard and Safety

During the high season, generally from June to September, Cala Baladrar has a lifeguard service. This provides us with great peace of mind, especially if we are with children. The presence of lifeguards ensures greater safety for swimming and a quick response to any unforeseen event. For our comfort, the cove usually has showers that allow us to rinse off the salt and pebbles before heading home. It's a detail that is greatly appreciated. For us, spring and autumn are, without a doubt, the best times to discover Cala Baladrar. The temperatures are mild and pleasant, perfect for enjoying the sun without the oppressive summer heat. The landscape is at its peak splendor, with lush vegetation and the Mediterranean Sea still fresh but inviting for the first swim of the season. Furthermore, the influx of tourists is lower, allowing us to enjoy the cove with almost exclusive tranquility. It is the ideal time for those seeking relaxation and connection with nature.

Summer (June-September)

Summer is, without a doubt, the high season. Temperatures are high and the sea water reaches its warmest point, making it irresistible. It is the perfect time to enjoy long swims, practice water sports, and make the most of the chiringuito. However, it is also when the cove receives the highest number of visitors. If we decide to go in summer, our recommendation is to arrive early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the busiest hours and secure a good spot. The atmosphere is livelier and more social, ideal for those seeking that summer buzz.

Winter (December-March)

Although the temperatures do not invite swimming, winter at Cala Baladrar offers a wild beauty and absolute tranquility. It is the perfect time to walk along the shore, feel the sea breeze, and enjoy the peace of the Mediterranean in its purest state. For photography lovers, the winter landscapes, often with a clear sky and bright sun, are spectacular. The chiringuito may be closed or have reduced hours, so it is important to plan if we want any services.

This is, without a doubt, the star activity of the cove. The incredible water transparency and the richness of its seabeds make Cala Baladrar a paradise for snorkeling. With simple goggles and a snorkel, we can immerse ourselves in a fascinating underwater world, observing colorful fish, starfish, and rock formations covered in algae. For those with more experience or who want a deeper immersion, diving is also an option. There are diving centers in the surroundings of Benissa and Moraira that organize trips to the most interesting points along the coast, including the seabeds near Baladrar.

The calm, protected waters of the cove are perfect for practicing paddle surf (SUP) and kayaking. By renting a board or a kayak, we can explore the coast from a different perspective, paddling gently and discovering small caves or neighboring coves that can only be accessed from the sea.
