How to Get to Playa del Sombrerico

From the center of Mojácar, whether the village or the beach area, the journey is relatively straightforward, although it requires a bit of attention, as we venture into a more rural and natural area. Generally, you take the road heading south, following the coastline. You'll see signs, although sometimes quite discreet, towards the cove or towards the 'Mesa Roldán' area, which is a nearby reference point.

Once you turn off the main road, the path becomes a dirt track. Don't worry, it's passable with a normal car, but it's advisable to drive cautiously and at low speed, especially if it has rained recently. We always recommend enjoying the landscape during the journey, as the views of the coast and cliffs are spectacular. At the end of the track, you'll find a natural, unpaved parking area where you can leave your vehicle. From there, a short walk will take you directly to the sand. It's important to remember that, as it is a natural environment, there are no major infrastructures, so the parking area is limited and unsupervised. Arriving early, especially in high season, is always a good idea to secure a good spot and enjoy the tranquility before more visitors arrive at this wonderful Mojácar beach.

The water temperature is generally pleasant, especially from late spring well into autumn, allowing for long swims and refreshing dips. The entry into the sea is usually gentle, although in some spots there might be small rocks at the beginning, so we recommend wearing water shoes if you are sensitive to this. However, it's important to be aware of these particularities to plan our visit to this Mojácar beach well.

Regarding services, you won't find the usual amenities of urban beaches. There are no permanent showers or public toilets, nor are there sunbed and umbrella rental points. We always recommend bringing everything you need from home: your own towels, sunscreen, umbrella, water, and some food. What you will usually find, especially during the summer months and high season, is the presence of a chiringuito or similar establishment, which sets up temporarily and offers drinks, snacks, and sometimes simple food options. These chiringuitos, often with rustic charm, are perfect for having a cool drink and enjoying the views. As for parking, as we already mentioned, it's a natural dirt area. Don't expect a paved and signposted car park, but rather a space where cars organize themselves informally. It is essential to remember that there is no lifeguard service, so caution and common sense are essential.
