How to Get to Cala Pregonda

Accessing Cala Pregonda is part of the adventure and what helps preserve its pristine essence. It's not a beach you can reach directly by car, and that is precisely one of its greatest virtues. The most common and recommended route is via the Camí de Cavalls, an ancient path that circles the entire island of Menorca.

By Car and on Foot

To reach Cala Pregonda by car, the first step is to head to Binimel·là beach, in the municipality of Es Mercadal. From Mahón or Ciutadella, follow the signs to Es Mercadal and then take the road to Fornells. Before reaching Fornells, you'll find signposted turnoffs to Binimel·là. There is a free parking lot at Binimel·là, although in high season it can fill up quickly, so we recommend going early in the morning to secure a spot.

Once at the Binimel·là parking lot, the walking part begins. From there, follow the Camí de Cavalls heading west (to the left when facing the sea). It's a well-marked trail, although uneven in some sections, that winds through a landscape of low vegetation and rocks. The hike lasts approximately 20 to 30 minutes, depending on your pace and the stops you make to admire the scenery. It's a relatively easy walk, but it's crucial to wear comfortable and appropriate footwear, as well as enough water, especially in the summer months, as there is no shade on the path. At the end of the trail, the view of Cala Pregonda emerging among the reddish rocks is simply spectacular and more than rewards the effort.

By Boat or Kayak

Another option for the more adventurous or those seeking a different perspective is to reach Cala Pregonda by sea. Many companies offer boat tours along the north coast of Menorca, making stops at coves like Pregonda. It's also possible to rent kayaks or paddleboards at nearby beaches like Fornells or even Binimel·là (if there is service at that time, although it's uncommon for Pregonda) and paddle to the cove. This option allows you to explore the nearby caves and islets from a unique perspective and enjoy the tranquility of the sea. However, you must pay attention to the weather, as the north coast can be more exposed to the tramontana wind.
