How to Get to Cala Ratjada

Getting to Cala Ratjada and, consequently, to Cala Agulla, is relatively easy, especially if you're coming from Palma de Mallorca, where the island's main airport, Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI), is located. We always recommend renting a car to have total freedom of movement, as the island offers many corners to discover. The journey from the airport to Cala Ratjada is approximately one hour and twenty minutes (about 80 kilometers) on well-signposted roads, mainly via the Ma-15 towards Manacor and then following the signs to Capdepera and Cala Ratjada.

By Car

If you opt for a rental car, the route is direct and pleasant. Once you reach the vicinity of Cala Ratjada, you'll find clear signage to Cala Agulla. The beach has a fairly large paid parking lot, located right next to the surrounding pine forest. Although it can fill up in high season, turnover is usually constant. It's the most comfortable option for bringing all your beach gear and exploring the surroundings at your leisure.

By Public Transport

For those who prefer public transport, there are bus lines connecting Palma with Cala Ratjada. From the airport, you'll first need to take a bus to the center of Palma (Estació Intermodal) and from there, the TIB (Transport de les Illes Balears) line 411 will take you directly to Cala Ratjada. Once in the town, Cala Agulla is about a 15-20 minute walk from the center, or you can take a local taxi. During the summer, small tourist trains also operate, connecting the different beaches and the center of Cala Ratjada, a fun and practical option for families.

Other Means

Some hotels offer transfer services to and from the airport, so we recommend checking when making your reservation. There are also taxi services or private transfers which, although more expensive, are a very comfortable option if you're traveling with a lot of luggage or in a group. Whatever your choice, arriving at this paradise will be the first step of an unforgettable experience.

The Sand and the Water

The Cala Agulla experience begins under our feet, with fine, soft sand that invites you to walk barefoot and children to build their castles. This sand, of a light golden hue, is one of the beach's most notable features and is kept clean thanks to environmental care and management. The predominant type of ground is, without a doubt, sand, both on the shore and in the first few meters of entry into the sea, which facilitates comfortable and safe access to the water.

Its shades range from a bright turquoise at the shore to a deep blue beyond the bathing area, reflecting a clarity that makes it easy to see the seabed. The waters are crystal clear and, generally, very calm, especially during summer mornings, making them perfect for relaxed swimming, snorkeling, and for the little ones to splash around safely. The entry into the sea is gradual and gentle, without sudden drops, which adds an extra layer of safety for families.
