How to Get to Playa de Es Caló des Mort

Getting to Playa de Es Caló des Mort is part of the adventure, and indeed, its access, although not excessively complicated, requires a small effort that helps maintain its semi-virgin character and discourages crowds. We always recommend planning the route a little to fully enjoy the journey and the final reward.

Vehicle and Foot Access

The most common way to get there is by heading towards the Migjorn area, one of Formentera's longest and most famous beaches. We can rent a scooter or a car, which are the most popular means of transport on the island, and drive along the main PM-820 road towards La Mola. Once in the Migjorn area, we must watch for signs or, more commonly, the access points to the different beach sections. Es Caló des Mort is located in the eastern part of Playa de Migjorn, specifically between the Es Arenals and Es Copinar areas.

Normally, you need to find a place to park near the road, close to one of the 'chiringuitos' or restaurants that line Migjorn. From there, access to Es Caló des Mort is on foot. We will have to follow a dirt path or a wooden walkway that runs parallel to the coast. The path is relatively easy, although it can be a bit uneven in some spots, so we recommend wearing comfortable footwear, like sturdy sandals or water shoes. The walk is short, perhaps 5-10 minutes from the nearest parking spot, and rewards us with beautiful coastal views that prepare us for the beauty that awaits. The final reward is a small entrance to the cove, often descending via wooden stairs or directly over the rock, which leads us to this hidden paradise.

Access Tips

• Transport: Renting a scooter is ideal for freedom of movement in Formentera. Cars are also an option, but parking can be more limited in high season.
• Footwear: Essential to wear comfortable shoes for the path. Basic flip-flops may be insufficient.
