How to Get to Playa de la Estaca

Getting to Playa de la Estaca is part of the adventure and, although it is not as accessible as the urban beaches of Sitges, its access rewards us with fewer crowds. We always recommend planning the route in advance to ensure a hassle-free arrival.

By Car

For us, the most comfortable option is usually the car. From Sitges, we take the C-31 towards Castelldefels. The cove is relatively close to Port Ginesta and the Les Botigues de Sitges area. There are some nearby parking areas, although they are usually limited, especially during the summer months. We often find parking in the vicinity of the urbanization or on the streets adjacent to the road, a few minutes' walk from the cove. Remember that in high season, arriving early is key to securing a good spot.

By Public Transport

Although there is no direct stop at the cove, we can get quite close using public transport. From Sitges, we can take a bus that runs along the coast towards Castelldefels or Barcelona, and get off at the stop closest to Les Botigues de Sitges or Port Ginesta. From there, we will have to walk a stretch, which can be about 15-20 minutes, following the coastline. It is also possible to take the train to Platja de Castelldefels station and from there take a taxi or a local bus to get closer to the area. This option is ideal if we prefer to forget about the car and enjoy the scenery.

On Foot or by Bicycle

For the more adventurous or those staying nearby, arriving on foot or by bicycle is an excellent option. The walk along the coast is very pleasant and allows us to enjoy spectacular views of the Mediterranean. There are trails and paths connecting the different coves and beaches in the area, although some sections can be a bit uneven. We always advise wearing comfortable shoes and carrying water, especially if we visit the beach during the warmer months.

Furthermore, being a fairly sheltered cove, the waters are usually very calm with hardly any waves, making it perfect for swimming calmly, for children to play safely, or for snorkeling and discovering the marine life hidden beneath the surface. The cleanliness of the water is something we always greatly value, and at Playa de la Estaca it is a constant, reinforcing our opinion that it is an exceptional place to enjoy the sea.

Although Playa de la Estaca is characterized by its more natural and less crowded atmosphere, it does not lack certain services that make our stay more comfortable and pleasant. It's important to consider that, being a smaller cove, the offering is not as extensive as on the urban beaches of Sitges, but the essentials are present to ensure a good experience.

Basic Services for Comfort

For our comfort, the beach has showers that allow us to freshen up and remove sand and salt after a swim. It's always a detail we appreciate, especially after a day of intense sun. Regarding safety, during the high season, the bathing area is supervised by a lifeguard service, which provides peace of mind, especially for families with children. We also find waste bins conveniently located to help keep the cove clean and preserve its natural beauty. It's a place where everyone's collaboration is essential to maintain its charm.

Food and Drink Options

As for food and drink, the options are more limited than in the town center, but we can find a small chiringuito or kiosk during the summer months offering basic refreshments, ice cream, and sometimes simple snacks. It's a good idea to bring our own water and some food if we plan to spend the whole day, especially if we visit outside the peak season when the service might not be operational. For a more complete meal, we can always head to the restaurants and bars in the nearby urbanizations of Les Botigues or Port Ginesta, which are just a short drive or a pleasant walk away.

What to Bring

Given its more rustic character, we recommend coming prepared. In addition to the usual beach gear (towel, sunscreen, hat), it's advisable to bring an umbrella or a small sunshade, as natural shade is limited.
