Nestled in the picturesque municipality of Sitges, in the province of Barcelona, this beach represents a true hidden gem, a sanctuary of calm and natural beauty that invites total disconnection. It is not a beach of large crowds or constant bustle; on the contrary, its charm lies precisely in its serene atmosphere and its unique landscape, where nature and history intertwine in a fascinating way.

How to Get to Playa de Vallcarca

Getting to Playa de Vallcarca is part of the adventure and, at the same time, relatively simple, although its somewhat remote location contributes to its 'hidden treasure' charm. We always value ease of access, and in this case, there are several options to reach this idyllic spot.

By Car

For many, the car is the most comfortable option. From Sitges, take the C-31 road towards Barcelona (known as the 'Costas del Garraf'). The beach is located just after passing the Garraf area and before reaching Sitges if you are coming from Barcelona. There is a free parking lot, although with limited capacity, right next to the beach, near the facilities of the old cement factory. It is important to arrive early, especially during the summer months, to secure a good spot. The road itself offers spectacular views of the coast, making the journey a pleasant experience in itself.

By Public Transport

If we prefer not to drive, public transport is a viable alternative, although it requires a short walk or a final taxi ride:

• Train (Rodalies R2S): We can take the Rodalies R2S train from Barcelona to Garraf or Sitges station. From Garraf station, the beach is about a 20-25 minute walk along the C-31 road (with caution, as there is no shoulder along the entire stretch). From Sitges, the walk is longer, so we recommend taking a taxi from Sitges station, which will drop us off directly at the beach in about 5-10 minutes.
• Bus: There are bus lines connecting Sitges with nearby towns, but none have a direct stop at Playa de Vallcarca. The most practical option would be to get off at a nearby stop on the C-31 and walk, or combine it with a taxi.

The Sand and Water

One of the aspects that most impress us about Playa de Vallcarca is the quality of its sand and the purity of its waters. The sand here is fine and of a soft golden hue, incredibly pleasant to the touch and perfect for laying out a towel and enjoying long hours of sun. We will not find annoying pebbles or rocks at the shoreline, making it a very comfortable place to walk barefoot and for children to play without worries. The type of ground is predominantly sand, both outside and inside the water, which facilitates entry into the sea.

As for the water, it is simply spectacular. The waters of Playa de Vallcarca are famous for their transparency and turquoise color, especially on sunny days. Being a semi-protected cove, the waves are usually very gentle, almost non-existent, creating a calm and crystal-clear surface that invites a relaxing swim. The underwater visibility is excellent, making it ideal for a bit of snorkeling and for observing the marine life that hides near the rocks at the ends of the beach. The water temperature, typical of the Mediterranean, is very pleasant during the summer months, and refreshing in spring and autumn, allowing for a good dip for much of the year. The feeling of immersing oneself in these pristine waters is, without a doubt, one of the greatest delights this beach offers.

Services and Facilities

Despite its more natural and less crowded character, Playa de Vallcarca has a series of essential services that guarantee a comfortable and pleasant stay for all its visitors. We always appreciate that, even on quieter beaches, certain standards of comfort and safety are maintained.

During the high season, generally from June to September, the beach offers:

• Lifeguard Service: Having a lifeguard service is essential for our peace of mind, especially when visiting the beach with children. It allows us to enjoy swimming with the security that professionals are watching over our safety.
• Showers: After a refreshing swim in the sea, showers are a much-appreciated service for removing salt and sand before returning home or continuing with other activities. They are simple but functional.
• Chiringuitos: In the summer months, a chiringuito is usually set up on the beach. This is a key point for us, as it allows us to enjoy a cold drink, an ice cream, or even a light meal without having to leave the sand. The atmosphere created at the
