How to Get to Playa de Byala

Getting to Playa de Byala is an accessible adventure, although it requires proper planning as it is an international destination. For most travelers, the main gateway will be by plane. The nearest and most convenient airports are Varna Airport (VAR) and Burgas Airport (BOJ). Both offer connections to various European cities, especially during the peak summer season. Once on the ground, we have several options to reach our coastal destination.

From Varna Airport, which is about 60 kilometers north of Byala, we can choose to rent a car, an option we always recommend for those who want to explore the region with complete freedom and at their own pace. The E87 road, which runs along the Black Sea coast, will take us directly to Byala in approximately one hour. It is a pleasant journey, with panoramic views that will prepare us for the beauty that awaits. Alternatively, there are taxi services and private transfers that, although a bit more expensive, offer comfort and speed. For travelers on a tighter budget, there are regular buses connecting Varna with Byala, although these are usually slower and may require a transfer at the Varna city bus station.

If we land at Burgas Airport, located about 80 kilometers to the south, the process is similar. Again, renting a car is an excellent choice, and the E87 road will guide us along the coast on a journey of approximately an hour and a half. Taxi and private transfer services are also available. Buses from Burgas are equally a viable option, connecting the city with Byala through the public transport network. Our recommendation is always to compare prices and schedules in advance, especially if you are traveling during the high season, to ensure the best connection and avoid unnecessary waits. Planning the trip in advance will allow us to enjoy the experience from the very first moment, without setbacks.

The Sand and the Water

The sand of Playa de Byala is certainly one of its greatest attractions. We are faced with fine, golden sand, which invites you to walk barefoot and spread out a towel to enjoy long hours of sun. Its soft and pleasant texture is perfect for the little ones, who can build sandcastles effortlessly, and for adults seeking natural comfort. Along its approximately 2.5 kilometers in length, the beach offers ample spaces where we will not feel crowded, even on the busiest days. It is sand that, in contact with the sun, acquires a particular shine, creating a dazzling landscape that is etched in the retina.

As for the water, Playa de Byala boasts crystal-clear waters that remind us of the most pristine coves. The transparency is such that, on calm days, we can see the seabed several meters deep. The shades vary from a soft turquoise near the shore to a deeper blue as we venture into the Black Sea. The entry into the sea is generally gentle and gradual, making it very safe for swimming, especially for families with young children or people who are not immediately comfortable in deep water. The predominant type of bottom at the shore and in the nearby seabed is also sand, which contributes to comfort and safety when walking and swimming.

The water temperature in the Black Sea is another plus. During the summer months, from June to September, the waters reach very pleasant temperatures, often exceeding 24-26 degrees Celsius, inviting long swims and full enjoyment of water activities.
