Located in the municipality of Pájara, on the Jandía peninsula, this beach is a true gem that embodies the essence of what we seek in a sun and sea vacation. How to Get to Playa de Butihondo

Getting to Playa de Butihondo is relatively easy, especially if we are staying in the southern area of Fuerteventura. Our recommendation is to fly to Fuerteventura Airport (FUE) in Puerto del Rosario and from there, rent a car. The FV-2 road will take us directly to the south of the island, on a scenic journey that borders the coast and gives us impressive views, passing through Costa Calma until reaching the Morro Jable and Jandía area. Playa de Butihondo is located just before reaching the center of Morro Jable, forming part of the extensive Jandía beach.

By Car

It is, without a doubt, the most comfortable option and the one that gives us the most flexibility to explore the surroundings. From the airport, the journey takes approximately one hour and twenty minutes, a well-signposted route in good condition. There are several Parking areas near the beach, some of them free and others paid, especially near the hotels and chiringuitos. We always find a spot, although in high season it may require a little more patience and searching among the various options available along the coast.

By Public Transport

It is also possible to get there by bus. Line 10 connects Puerto del Rosario with Morro Jable, and line 5 with Costa Calma, with stops close to Playa de Butihondo. It's an economical option, ideal if we prefer not to drive or if our accommodation is near one of the stops. However, the schedules can be less flexible than going by car, limiting our ability to explore at our own pace. We, to maximize time and freedom, prefer the comfort of our own vehicle.

The Sand and Water

When we talk about Playa de Butihondo, the first thing that comes to mind is its impressive sand. It is fine-grained and a soft golden color that, under the Canarian sun, shines with a special, almost magical intensity. Walking barefoot on it is a delight; it's so soft that it invites long walks along the shore, feeling each grain under our feet and the sea breeze caressing the skin. The type of ground is predominantly sand, making it very comfortable for lying down and relaxing, without worrying about rocks or irregularities.

As for the water, it's simply spectacular! The waters of Butihondo are crystal clear and turquoise-colored, inviting us to dive in without a second thought, revealing their transparency with every glance. Thanks to its orientation and the natural protection of the Jandía coast, they are usually very calm, with a gentle swell that makes them perfect for swimming and for the little ones. The water temperature is pleasantly warm for most of the year, allowing us to enjoy a refreshing dip even in the winter months, when other European beaches are too cold. It's a real pleasure to float in these waters, observing the transparency and the marine life that sometimes appears near the shore, creating small ecosystems full of color and movement.

Services and Facilities

One of the reasons why Playa de Butihondo is so popular is the excellent services infrastructure it offers, without losing its natural charm and feeling of spaciousness. We always value comfort, and here we find it in abundance, allowing us to enjoy a beach day without worries:

• Chiringuitos: Along the beach and on the adjacent promenade, we find several chiringuitos and small restaurants where we can enjoy a refreshing drink, an ice cream, or even a light meal with unbeatable sea views. There are options for all tastes, from the simplest and most authentic to those offering a more elaborate menu, perfect for taking a break and recharging.
• Sunbeds and Umbrellas: For those seeking maximum comfort and sun protection, there are areas where we can rent umbrellas and sunbeds. This guarantees a day of sun and relaxation without having to carry our own equipment, allowing us to simply arrive, settle in, and enjoy.
• Showers and Toilets/WC: It's essential to be able to rinse off the salt and sand after a swim, and here we have conveniently located showers. Furthermore, there are clean and well-maintained public toilets, which is always a plus, especially if we're with small children or spending many hours on the beach.
