Getting to the beach of Castell-Platja d'Aro is really simple, thanks to its excellent connections. If we come by car, the AP-7 motorway will leave us a short distance away, taking exit 9 (Vidreres-Lloret de Mar) or exit 9A (Sant Feliu de Guíxols-Platja d'Aro) and following the signs. The journey from Barcelona is approximately an hour and a half, while from Girona city it's about 30-40 minutes.

For parking, the area has various options, both paid (underground car parks and blue zones) and some free parking areas a bit further from the center. During the high season, we recommend arriving early to find a spot. We can also opt for public transport; there are bus lines connecting Platja d'Aro with Girona and other nearby towns, as well as with Girona-Costa Brava Airport, which is about 30 kilometers away.

The Sand and Water

The sand of Playa de Aro (Platja Gran) is one of its great attractions. It is fine, golden sand, very pleasant to the touch and perfect for walking barefoot or for children to play building sandcastles. Its width allows us to always find a good spot, even on the busiest days, guaranteeing space to lay out a towel and enjoy the sun.

To fully enjoy the sun and swimming, the summer months (June, July, and August) are ideal, although they are also the busiest. The atmosphere is vibrant, with lots of life on the promenade and in the beach bars.

If we prefer tranquility and milder weather for walking or practicing sports, spring (April, May) and autumn (September, October) are excellent options. The temperatures are pleasant, the beach is less crowded, and accommodation prices are usually more economical. Even in winter, a walk along the shore of the beach of Castell-Platja d'Aro is a revitalizing experience, with the calm sea as a backdrop.
