How to get to Playa de Velilla

Getting to Playa de Velilla in Almuñécar is quite straightforward, making it a very accessible destination for all types of travelers. The town of Almuñécar, in the province of Granada, is well-connected, and the beach is located at its eastern end, forming a continuity with the rest of the urban coastline. We always recommend planning the trip in advance, especially if visiting during peak season, to ensure a hassle-free experience.

By car

For most visitors, the car is the most comfortable option. From the city of Granada, take the A-44 towards Motril and then the A-7 towards Almuñécar. The exit to Velilla is usually well signposted. From Málaga, follow the A-7 towards Motril/Almería, taking the exit for Almuñécar. The beach has several parking areas, both public and private, some of them paid, especially in the summer months. However, it's not difficult to find street parking in the adjacent streets if you arrive early in the morning or have a bit of patience. It's important to remember that in August the influx is at its maximum and parking can be a challenge, so we suggest considering alternatives.

By bus

Almuñécar is connected by bus lines to major Andalusian cities like Granada, Málaga, or Seville. Once at the Almuñécar bus station, Playa de Velilla is a short taxi ride away or accessible via the urban buses that run along the coast. The entry into the water is gentle, with little depth in the first few meters, making it ideal for young children and for those who don't feel comfortable in deep water immediately. The clarity of its waters also invites snorkeling, allowing you to observe marine life in the nearby rocky areas.
