When we think of Lanzarote beaches, images of volcanic landscapes, hidden coves, and color contrasts often come to mind. Playa Blanca more than meets expectations, offering us an idyllic picture: a small urban cove, perfectly integrated into the promenade, where palm trees sway gently to the rhythm of the Atlantic breeze and the sun shines almost 365 days a year. Its strategic location makes it the ideal starting point for exploring both the town and the fascinating surroundings, from Timanfaya National Park to the paradisiacal Papagayo Beaches. How to Get to Playa Blanca

Getting to Playa Blanca is extremely easy, regardless of where we are coming from in Lanzarote. Being an urban beach, it is excellently connected and signposted. If we land at Lanzarote Airport (ACE), located in Arrecife, we have several options. The most comfortable is usually renting a car, which gives us total freedom to move around the island. The journey from the airport to Playa Blanca takes approximately 30-40 minutes via the LZ-2, a well-maintained road with volcanic landscapes that will take our breath away.

By Car

If we have decided to rent a vehicle, we will have no problem finding Playa Blanca beach. Once in the town, the signs will guide us to the center. We can park on the streets adjacent to the promenade, although in high season it can be a bit more difficult to find free parking. There are paid parking areas or, if we are staying in the center, many hotels and apartments offer their own spaces. We always recommend arriving early to secure a good spot, especially if we plan to spend the whole day at the beach.

Public Transport

For those who prefer not to drive, public transport is an excellent alternative. The intercity bus line number 60 connects Arrecife and the airport directly with Playa Blanca. The buses are modern and comfortable, and the journey will allow us to relax while enjoying the scenery. Once at the Playa Blanca bus station, the beach is just a few minutes' walk away, following the lively promenade.

On Foot or by Bicycle

If we are already staying in the town of Playa Blanca, the best way to get to the beach is, without a doubt, on foot. The promenade, which stretches for several kilometers, connects us with all the beaches in the municipality, including Playa Blanca. It's a charming walk, ideal for a morning or evening relaxation, and fully accessible. We can also choose to rent a bicycle and ride along the coast, enjoying the views and the sea breeze before taking a well-deserved dip.

The Sand and Water

The first thing that catches our attention when stepping onto Playa Blanca is its sand. It is a fine, golden sand, incredibly soft underfoot, inviting us to take off our shoes and feel every grain. It is clean and well-maintained sand, characteristic of the urban Lanzarote beaches that hold the Blue Flag. The light tone of the sand contrasts wonderfully with the turquoise blue of the waters, creating a visually stunning and very photogenic landscape.

But if the sand is a delight, the water is simply spectacular. The waters of Playa Blanca are extraordinarily calm, serene, and crystal clear, with excellent visibility. This is largely due to the natural protection provided by the harbor breakwaters, which shelter it from the stronger Atlantic waves. The absence of dangerous currents and the shallow depth at the shore make it an idyllic spot for everyone, but especially for families with young children. The little ones can play and splash in complete safety, while adults enjoy a refreshing swim or simply let themselves be rocked by the gentle tide.

The water temperature at Playa Blanca, as in the rest of the island, is pleasant all year round, ranging from 19°C in winter to 24°C in summer. This allows us to enjoy a swim in any season, making this Yaiza beach a perfect destination for a getaway at any time. The clarity of the water is such that, with a simple pair of snorkeling goggles, we can observe small fish and marine life inhabiting the sandy bottom, a simple but charming experience for the curious.
