How to Get to Playa de Arela

Getting to Playa de Arela is relatively easy, and the journey itself offers a first glimpse of the beautiful landscapes of the Mariña Lucense. The beach is located in the municipality of Xove, in the north of the province of Lugo.

By Car

For us, the most comfortable way to access Playa de Arela is by car. From the Cantabrian Motorway (A-8), we must take the exit towards the N-642 in the direction of Burela/Viveiro. Once on the N-642, we will follow the signs towards Xove. Upon reaching the urban center of Xove, we will find signage that will guide us directly to the beach. The road leading to the beach is easily accessible and in good condition, which facilitates the journey. Furthermore, the beach has a spacious and free parking lot, which is a major plus, especially during the summer months when visitor numbers are higher. We recommend using map applications like Google Maps or Waze, entering 'Playa de Arela, Xove' for precise navigation.

By Public Transport

Although the car is the most practical option, it is possible to reach Xove by bus from nearby cities like Lugo or A Coruña, although frequencies are usually limited, especially outside the high season. Once in Xove, the beach is not far from the center, but it may require a 20-30 minute walk or a short taxi ride. For most visitors, the independence offered by a private vehicle is preferable for exploring the area freely.
