How to Get to Playa de Polas

Getting to Playa de Polas is relatively straightforward, making it even more attractive for a getaway. Its location in the municipality of Foz, in the province of Lugo, is well-connected, although, like any good Galician beach, it requires a small detour from the main routes to discover it in all its splendor.

Road Access

If you're coming from inland Galicia or the rest of Spain, the A-8 motorway, known as the 'Autovía del Cantábrico', is our main ally. You should take the exit towards Foz (N-642). Once in Foz, access to the beach is well signposted. The N-642 runs along the coast and will guide you through spectacular landscapes to the vicinity of the beach. This road is, in itself, part of the experience, offering panoramic views of the Lugo coastline.

Parking

One of the advantages of Playa de Polas is that it has parking options, something we always greatly appreciate when traveling by car. There are designated areas nearby, which facilitates access, especially during the high season months, although we always recommend arriving early to secure a good spot. Parking is usually public and free, although in high season there may be some regulated or paid areas nearby, so it's always advisable to pay attention to the signage. From the parking area, a short walk takes you directly to the sand, without significant slopes to hinder access.

Public Transport

Although the car is the most comfortable option for exploring the Mariña Lucense and reaching beaches like Polas, Foz has bus lines connecting it with other nearby towns. However, to get directly to the beach, public transport can be more limited and would require walking from the nearest stop. We always recommend checking the updated schedules and routes of local buses if this is your preferred option.
