How to Get to Playa de la Duquesa

Getting to Playa de la Duquesa is really easy, which adds to its appeal. Strategically located in Manilva, this beach is accessible from various points in the provinces of Malaga and Cadiz. For us, the most common and comfortable option is usually by car. From Malaga city, the journey takes approximately one hour and twenty minutes via the AP-7, a toll motorway that offers spectacular views of the Mediterranean. If we're coming from Malaga-Costa del Sol Airport (AGP), the route is the same, which makes things much easier for those arriving by plane. There are several exits that take us directly to Manilva and, from there, the signs to Puerto de la Duquesa or the beach are clear.

For those who prefer not to drive, there are public transport options. Although there is no train station directly in Manilva, we can take a train to Fuengirola or Estepona and from there take a bus. Intercity bus lines connect Manilva with other towns on the Costa del Sol, offering an economical alternative. However, for greater flexibility and to be able to explore the surroundings freely, we always recommend having your own vehicle or a rental. Furthermore, around the beach and the port, we find several parking areas, some free and some paid, which makes it easy for us to leave the car a short distance from the sand.

The Sand and Water

Playa de la Duquesa welcomes us with fine, golden sand, a characteristic we always greatly appreciate. It's the kind of sand that invites you to walk barefoot for hours, to build sandcastles with the little ones, or simply to lay out a towel and enjoy its softness. The texture is ideal for all kinds of beach activities, and its cleanliness reflects the care given to this environment. It's not sand that sticks excessively, which makes the task of getting rid of it before returning home or to the hotel much easier.

As for the water, we find a calm Mediterranean with surprising clarity, especially on calm days. The waters of Playa de la Duquesa are usually shallow near the shore, making it a safe and very suitable place for children and the elderly to bathe. The water temperature is pleasantly warm during the summer months, inviting long dips and refreshment from the Andalusian sun. Even in spring or autumn, if the day is nice, we dare to take a swim, as the feeling of peace it conveys is incomparable. It's a pleasure to immerse ourselves in these crystal-clear waters and feel the sea breeze on our face.

• Chiringuitos and Restaurants: A varied gastronomic offer ranging from traditional 'chiringuitos' right on the sand, where you can taste the famous 'pescaíto frito' and 'espetos de sardinas', to more formal restaurants in Puerto de la Duquesa with international cuisine and options for all tastes. We always find a place to eat well and enjoy the views.
• Lifeguard Service: During the high season, the beach has lifeguard posts and qualified personnel to ensure the safety of bathers, which gives us great peace of mind, especially when we go with children.
• Sunbeds and Umbrellas: For those who prefer not to carry their own equipment, there is the possibility of renting umbrellas and sunbeds, allowing us to relax comfortably under the sun.
