How to get to Playa de Los Boliches
Getting to Playa de Los Boliches is extremely easy, making it a very accessible destination for everyone. If we're coming from Malaga-Costa del Sol Airport (AGP), we have several options. The most comfortable and fastest is by car, taking the A-7 motorway towards Algeciras and following the signs to Fuengirola. The journey usually takes about 20-25 minutes, depending on traffic. In addition, the beach has several nearby parking areas, both paid and some free street parking in adjacent streets, although the latter can be difficult to find in high season. However, don't worry, there are solutions.
Another excellent option is the C1 Cercanías train, which connects the airport directly with Fuengirola. Los Boliches station is just a few minutes' walk from the beach, making it incredibly practical. We always recommend this alternative if we don't need a car to get around the area, as it avoids parking problems and allows us to enjoy the scenery. There are also intercity bus lines connecting Fuengirola with other towns on the Costa del Sol, and within the city, an efficient urban bus system will easily take us to any point on the beach. Playa de Los Boliches is, without a doubt, very well connected.
The sand and water
One of the main attractions of Playa de Los Boliches is, certainly, its sand and waters. We are faced with a beach of dark, fine sand, very pleasant to the touch, perfect for walking barefoot, building sandcastles with the little ones or simply spreading out our towel and relaxing in the sun. The beach's extension, over a kilometer long, ensures we'll always find a spot, even on the busiest days, which is a big plus.
The waters of Playa de Los Boliches are generally calm and shallow at the shore, making them ideal for bathing for children and the elderly. The water quality is excellent, a fact that is endorsed year after year with the award of the prestigious Blue Flag, a distinction that guarantees the beach's cleanliness, safety and services. We love the transparency of its waters, which invites us to take a refreshing dip at any time of day. The temperature of the Mediterranean in this area is very pleasant during the summer months, and also in spring and early autumn, allowing us to enjoy long swims. It's a real pleasure to immerse ourselves in them and let the stress dissolve with each wave.
Services and facilities
Playa de Los Boliches is an example of a well-equipped urban beach, and we value that enormously. Here we won't miss anything, as it has an infrastructure of services and facilities that covers all our needs. To begin with, it has numerous Showers and foot-washing points along the entire promenade, something essential after a day at the beach. The public Toilets/WCs are also well maintained and easily accessible.
For those seeking comfort, the beach offers a Sun lounger and umbrella rental service, allowing us to relax without having to carry our own equipment. Food lovers will find a wide range of Chiringuitos and Restaurants right on the beach, where we can taste everything from the famous Malaga 'pescaíto frito' to paellas and international dishes, always with unbeatable sea views. The presence of Lifeguards during the high season gives us peace of mind, knowing that safety is guaranteed.
Furthermore, Playa de Los Boliches stands out for its Total Accessibility, with wooden walkways that reach the shore, adapted shaded areas and, in some spots, amphibious chairs to facilitate bathing for people with reduced mobility. This makes it a model of inclusion. We also find Sports Areas with beach volleyball nets and outdoor gym equipment, as well as Children's Play Areas with swings and slides for the little ones' entertainment. The Parking in the vicinity, although sometimes busy, complements this service offering, making our beach experience as comfortable as possible.
