How to Get to Playa de Possidi (La punta de arena)

Getting to Playa de Possidi is a simple and rewarding adventure. If we start from Thessaloniki, the main city in northern Greece, the drive takes about an hour and a half, depending on traffic. We must take the main road leading to the Kassandra peninsula. Once in Kassandra, we follow the signs to Possidi. The road is well-signposted and in good condition, making the journey easy. As we approach the village of Possidi, we'll find signs guiding us to the beach.

Transportation Options

• Private or rental car: This is, by far, the most comfortable and flexible option. It allows us to explore the surroundings at our own pace and bring everything needed for a day at the beach. There are parking areas, some free and others managed by the chiringuitos, which usually require a minimum consumption to use their spaces.
• Bus: There is a KTEL bus network connecting Thessaloniki with the main villages of Chalkidiki. We could take a bus to Possidi, although the frequency may not be as high as on other more popular routes. Once in the village, we might need a taxi or a good walk to the sand spit, which is a bit away from the village center.

The sand at Playa de Possidi is predominantly fine, of a light golden hue that shines under the Greek sun. It's soft to the touch and very pleasant for walking barefoot, which is essential when exploring the winding sand spit.
