How to Get to Playa de Faros

Getting to Playa de Faros is surprisingly simple, which adds great appeal to this already charming Playa de Faros. The island of Ikaria has its own domestic airport, Ikaria National Airport (JIK), located just a few kilometers from the beach. For us, this is a great advantage, as it minimizes transfer times and allows us to immerse ourselves in paradise almost immediately after landing. There are regular flights from Athens, and during the high season, also connections with other Greek islands.

If we prefer to travel by sea, which is a very Greek experience, we can take a ferry from the port of Piraeus in Athens. The journeys usually last between 7 and 10 hours, depending on intermediate stops, and offer us the chance to enjoy the vast blue of the Aegean Sea. There are also ferry connections with other nearby islands like Samos, Mykonos, and Patmos, making it easy to include Ikaria in an 'island hopping' itinerary. Once at the main port of Agios Kirykos, or in Evdilos, we can rent a car, take a taxi, or use local public transport to reach Faros. From Agios Kirykos, the drive takes approximately 15-20 minutes, following a picturesque coastal road that already gifts us the first spectacular views of the island. The proximity to the airport makes Faros one of the most accessible Ikaria beaches, a key factor for many travelers.

The Sand and Water

The water temperature, warm and pleasant during the summer months, perfectly complements the experience, making every dip a true pleasure. It is, undoubtedly, one of the Greece beaches where the water quality is exceptional.

Here we can taste Greek specialties, fresh fish of the day, and Mediterranean salads, all with sea views.
