How to Get to Playa de Ammos

Getting to Playa de Ammos is, in itself, part of the relaxing experience that Koufonisia offers. The island, being small, is mainly accessible by sea. Our journey usually begins at the port of Piraeus, in Athens, from where we depart by ferry. The crossing can take between 4 and 7 hours, depending on the type of vessel (high-speed catamarans are faster, but conventional ferries offer a calmer experience with a deck to enjoy the Aegean). Another very popular option is to fly to Naxos or Paros, nearby islands with airports, and from there take a shorter ferry (approximately 30 minutes to 1.5 hours) to Koufonisia. This route is ideal for those who prefer to minimize time at sea.

Once our ferry docks at the port of Koufonisia, Playa de Ammos literally awaits us just a few steps away. It is the first beach we will see on our right when disembarking from the boat, making it incredibly convenient. We don't need additional transport; we can walk calmly from the port, dragging our suitcases or carrying our backpacks, and in less than five minutes we will be stepping on its soft sand. This ease of access is one of the great attractions of Ammos, especially after a journey. It allows us to start enjoying the Koufonisia beaches almost instantly, without complications or waiting. It is the perfect welcome to the island, offering us a first impression of its accessible beauty and welcoming atmosphere.

Although it is not a massively organized beach with all kinds of luxuries, its proximity to the village guarantees us that everything we might need is within reach, just a few minutes' walk away. This allows us to enjoy the tranquility of the beach without feeling isolated.
