How to Get to Playa de Pyrgaki

From Chora, the island's capital, the journey is approximately 20-25 kilometers, which translates to about 30-40 minutes by car. We always recommend renting a vehicle (car, quad, or motorbike) to explore the island, as it gives us the freedom to move at our own pace and discover hidden coves and picturesque villages that would otherwise be inaccessible. The road leading to Pyrgaki is well signposted and, although it can be a bit winding in some sections, the panoramic views of the sea and the island's interior make the journey a pleasure in itself.

Transportation Options

• Rental Car: This is, by far, the most comfortable and flexible option. There are numerous rental agencies in Chora and at the airport. It allows us to bring all our beach gear and explore the surroundings without rush.
• Local Bus (KTEL Naxos): During the high season, there are bus services connecting Chora with the southern beaches, including Pyrgaki. Schedules are usually regular, though less frequent than to the more popular western beaches. It's an economical option, but it ties us to set timetables.
• Taxi: We can take a taxi from Chora, but it's a more expensive option. It's always advisable to agree on the price in advance or ensure the taximeter is running. For the return trip, we may need to book a taxi ahead of time, as taxis are not usually waiting in Pyrgaki.
