How to Get to Playa Los Algodones
Getting to this Sonoran paradise is an adventure in itself, and fortunately, there are several options to do so comfortably and efficiently. Playa Los Algodones is strategically located near San Carlos, Sonora, which facilitates access from various important cities in the region and the country.
From Hermosillo
If we are coming from Hermosillo, the capital of Sonora, the journey is relatively simple and scenic. We will take Federal Highway 15 South towards Guaymas. The trip lasts approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to 2 hours, covering a distance of about 120 kilometers. Once we reach the vicinity of Guaymas, we will follow the signs to San Carlos. Playa Los Algodones is located just before entering the heart of San Carlos, well signposted on the side of the main highway that runs along the coast.
From Guaymas
For those arriving in Guaymas, whether by land or air via Guaymas International Airport (MML), access to Playa Los Algodones is even faster. From downtown Guaymas, we will take the scenic highway that leads to San Carlos. The journey is about 20 to 30 minutes, covering approximately 20 kilometers. The beach is one of the first points of interest we will encounter as we approach San Carlos, making it very convenient for a first stop.
Air Travel
Although Guaymas Airport is the closest, with limited domestic flights, many international visitors choose to fly into Hermosillo International Airport (HMO). From there, we can rent a car, which we highly recommend to have the freedom to explore the surroundings at our own pace, or take a private transport service or bus that takes us directly to San Carlos. The highway is in excellent condition, making the journey pleasant and safe.

It is important to remember that, although the beach is accessible, parking can vary. In high season, spaces near the main access points can fill up quickly, so it is advisable to arrive early.
