We will take the Via Rapida (VR1) heading west, a scenic route that will take us through tunnels and viaducts with impressive views of the Atlantic Ocean and the cliffs. The journey takes approximately 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic. There is ample parking available near the beach, which is a great advantage.

For those who prefer public transport, there are buses connecting Funchal with Calheta. The Rodoeste company's lines offer several daily frequencies, although the journey can be a bit longer, around an hour or more, with intermediate stops. It's a more economical option and allows us to enjoy the scenery without worrying about driving. Once in Calheta, the beach is well signposted and accessible on foot from the village's bus station. Some hotels in the area also offer shuttle services, which further simplifies access to this fantastic golden sand beach in Madeira.

Best Time to Visit

The island of Madeira enjoys a subtropical climate that makes it an attractive destination all year round.
