By car

The road access is scenic, crossing the hills of the Parque Natural da Arrábida. However, parking is limited and, during the summer months (especially July and August) and on weekends, the road that descends directly to the beach is usually closed to private traffic to control the flow of visitors. During these periods, it is necessary to leave the car in the designated parking areas at the top of the mountain and use a shuttle bus service that connects to the beach. Our recommendation is to arrive very early in the morning if you wish to secure a spot in the closest parking lots or avoid crowds on public transport. Alternatively, you may consider visiting the beach outside the high season, when access is more relaxed.

Public transport

During the bathing season, the city of Setúbal and nearby municipalities usually activate bus lines that connect to the beaches of Arrábida, including Portinho. Although the frequency may not be very high, it is an option to consider if you prefer not to worry about parking. Check local schedules in advance.

Other means

For the more adventurous, it is possible to arrive by bicycle, although the road has some steep slopes. Another charming option, especially if you are in Troia or Setúbal, is to take a boat or catamaran that tours the Arrábida coast and often includes a stop for swimming at Portinho.
